On Saturday, September 5, esports coaches, teachers, and volunteers will gather at Sentralen in Oslo for a historic, nationwide gathering.
Many coaches and gaming coordinators are currently doing a tremendous job in their local communities, but often feel that they are relatively on their own. At the same time, they are the federation’s most important key personnel in ensuring that children and young people experience a safe environment, a sense of achievement, and a strong sense of community in organized esports activities.
With support from the DNB Savings Bank Foundation, we at the Norwegian Esports Federation, together with the Grassroots Esports Alliance, aim to highlight these roles. The 2026 Coaches’ Conference will be the platform the field has been lacking—a place where coaches, teachers, and volunteers can meet and exchange experiences across clubs, schools, municipalities, and other recreational programs.
The goal of the event is to provide participants with solid professional development, while also gathering valuable insights and identifying needs directly from those on the front lines. The program will consist of professional presentations, experience-sharing sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities.

This initiative builds directly on our ongoing work with the new esports coaching program. Through this program, we aim to provide coaches with enhanced expertise in pedagogy, activities, and inclusion.
An important sub-goal of the gathering at Sentralen will therefore be to identify dedicated resource persons from across the country. We want to establish a national coaches’ committee that, in the long term, can give coaches a direct voice in shaping the role of coaches, educational programs, and the national framework for grassroots esports in Norway.
