Practical Workshop: Accessible Digital Culture in Sarpsborg

Workshop

How can we create more inclusive gaming, esports, and computer culture programs for children and young people?

The E-sports Alliance and the Norwegian E-sports Federation invite you to a hands-on workshop as part of the “Barrier-Free Digital Culture” project. Here, we bring together clubs, volunteer organizations, schools, after-school clubs, municipalities, and other local stakeholders to engage in practical work on inclusion in gaming, e-sports, and digital culture.

The goal of the workshop is to identify specific barriers and needs—and to work together to test and further develop tools that can make local digital culture programs more accessible, safe, and inclusive.

The feedback from participants will be used in the development of, among other things, club kits, guides, and short learning resources for the project.

What should we work on?

During the workshop, we will, among other things, take a closer look at:

  • what barriers children and young people face when participating in gaming and esports
  • challenges related to, among other things, finances, equipment, facilities, recruitment, and safety
  • inclusion related to gender, disabilities, language, and culture
  • collaboration between the nonprofit sector, schools, and the municipality
  • what practical tools and resources local stakeholders need

This is a hands-on workshop, and the participants’ own experiences and challenges will be an important part of the work.

Who is this workshop for?

This collection is relevant for, among others, club leaders, coaches, and activity leaders; volunteers; teachers; staff at after-school clubs and youth programs; municipal employees; young volunteers; and others who work with gaming, esports, or computer culture for children and young people.
