A national meeting place at Sentralen in Oslo for volunteer esports coaches and teachers. Gain professional insights, participate in workshops, and build networks within grassroots esports.
The Norwegian Esports Federation, in collaboration with the Grassroots Esports Alliance, has received funding from the DNB Savings Bank Foundation to organize the 2026 Esports Coaches’ Workshop.
We invite you to a national gathering for volunteer esports coaches, esports teachers, and gaming coordinators who work with organized gaming and esports programs for children and youth. Our goal is to provide you with professional development, facilitate the sharing of experiences, and strengthen the role of coaches in Norwegian grassroots esports. The gathering will also help us gather insights and identify needs from the field, which will form the basis for our continued work on a coach network and a national coaching committee.
We know that many coaches and gaming coordinators today are relatively isolated in their local communities. At the same time, you play a key role in ensuring that children and young people encounter safe adults, clear guidelines, a sense of achievement, and a sense of community in organized gaming and esports activities. With this coaches’ conference, we aim to highlight these roles and create a forum where coaches, teachers, and volunteers can come together across clubs, schools, municipalities, recreational programs, and other initiatives.
The program will consist of presentations, experience-sharing sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities. The topics we will cover include, among others:
This initiative builds on our work with the new e-sports coaching program, which is designed to provide coaches with greater expertise in physical activity, pedagogy, inclusion, health, and creating a safe environment for children and youth in e-sports.
An important goal for us with this gathering is to identify needs and connect with dedicated experts who wish to contribute to the ongoing work of establishing a national coaching committee. We hope that, in the long term, such a committee will help amplify coaches’ voices in the continued development of the coaching role, coach education, and national frameworks for grassroots esports.
More information about the program and registration will be available soon.
