A Balanced Gaming Culture – Seminar in Drammen

Workshop

When does gaming become a problem, and how can we—as coaches, parents, and volunteers—help? Join us for a free seminar on problematic video gaming, early

Gaming is an important social arena for many children and young people. At the same time, in some cases, gaming can develop into a source of challenges in everyday life. How do we distinguish between a strong interest in gaming and problematic gaming, and how should we approach young people who need support?

The Bredde E-sport Alliance invites you to the second regional gathering as part of the “Gaming Culture in Balance” project, with a focus on capacity building and low-threshold support measures.

Through brief technical presentations, practical examples, and the sharing of experiences, we will take a closer look at:

  • How to Recognize Signs of Problematic Video Game Play.
  • How to Conduct the First Conversation with Children and Adolescents.
  • When and how it may be appropriate to refer someone to additional help.
  • How clubs, parents, and other adults can help foster a healthier gaming culture.

The seminar is suitable for coaches, activity leaders, parents and guardians, volunteers, school and after-school program staff, healthcare professionals, and others who interact with children and youth through gaming.

The academic portion will be streamed and may be available as a recording. The workshop and discussion portions will take place without streaming.

The event is free and is organized by the Grassroots Esports Alliance with support from the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
